[After helping Ironhide, Jetfire had went to get his journal. He'd merely intended to ask a question... But since he'd attempted to challenge himself again when it came to the absolutely dreadful weather, the image that pops up is simply of Jetfire standing at one of the entrances to the barracks, staring out at the snow, for several minutes.]

I... That is...

[He seems to zone out again, having stretched out one arm outside the protection of the doorway, watching snowflakes melt as they meet his armour-plating.]

... Has anyone been here... for long enough to have the data to say for how long this weather is going to last? Or, if not that... The experience to extrapolate how long this colder weather and snow could last..?

[He's not once looking directly into the journal, and his optics are dim, nearly offline. It's hard to say what actually turns the image off when it ends, but whether anyone replies to this, or comes wandering around the barracks, Jetfire is probably quite obvious where he's standing.

He's at least pulled his arm in against his frame, though the small pool of water on the floor would reveal he apparently didn't do it until he got quite a bit of snow on it.]

What's wrong with y--Oh.

[Right. Sloooow realization. Because he's the one who unthawed you and all.]

[Starscream's voice almost seems to startle Jetfire and he doesn't actually look at the journal first, but around before his gaze drops. This is... kind of embarrassing, to be frank. But while there'd been a moment of fumbling panic right as he came back online, everything rebooting after being unthawed, the immediate situation had grounded him.]

... Starscream?

[Right now, however, Jetfire seems kind of... lost, and while the view isn't exactly wide enough to show all of Jetfire, there's a shift behind him; the wings just changed from their normal, diagonally-upwards position to downswept.]

How cold can it get..?

It was just a few days last time, but its only happened once, you can't really guess with that.

[It doesn't take too long for Jetfire to respond, but he sounds slightly unfocused when he does.]

How long ago was that?

... Are you aware if it follows some... climate pattern? So there's some way of knowing... how long it might stay, if whatever climate that is emulated and simulated here would require a period of... winter?

[He's curious yes, but compared to what he could be curious about, that is, attempting to find out if there's a particular biome and climate being followed here, this is a more selfish curiosity. He want to attempt to be prepared.]

If this is anything like back home it could last months.

I don't think it does. Except for the snow before, and now, and the dust storm the weather's always been the same.

[Oh, he sounds a bit more focused with that confusion having disturbed his mental state some.]

So, either this could be... very brief, or last an unknown amount of time.

[Jetfire sounds... surprisingly solemn. Maybe even a bit distressed.]

[He sighs, and while he might have meant to simply drag a hand down his faceplates, the hand sort of gets stuck partway, hiding part of his face instead.]

Well, at least I'm... better prepared.

[And while he does straighten up, "better prepared" is very far from what Jetfire looks like he is,]

Months? Moon cycles. Whatever word you use.

Yeah, basically we have no way of knowing. You could ask the staff, but if they can say they probably would have already.

Think of it this way. Spring'll be here eventually.

[Hey, Jetfire could use the terms he's used to, using orns and deca-cycles and whatall!]

Ah, I see... Hm, well, the closest term I would naturally use would be deca-cycle. It's not quite as long as an Earth month, either going by standard calendar length, or a full moon revolution.

[The mention of having no way of knowing causes him to slump slightly, and there's the faint noise of metal on metal as he drags a hand down his faceplates, then pausing over the lower half of his face. The sigh is muffled.]

I see... Yes, someone else said... the same thing.

[That same note of restrained near-distress is back in his voice again.]

I... will have to keep that in mind, but, truly, "eventually" isn't as soothing when you've been buried under tons of snow for...

[There's a pause. How long had it been? His internal chronometer's still okay, mostly, anyway, but he can piece together a pretty long chunk of time. If that's the whole of it, however, he's not sure... and there's the noise of shifting metal as Jetfire shifts in his stance, one hand fisting slowly. They live for a long time, but being frozen for all that time... is still not insignificant.]

For... Mmmh... At least several hundred thousand years, as counted by Earth time.

I don't know how long an earth month is, unless its the same as the moon cycles here.

It seemed to be safe enough, last time.

Considering the lack of actual sun and moon, it'd be hard to correctly calculate how long it is here, if it does, indeed, exist. The days seem to be of similar length, and an Earth calendar month is... around thirty or thirty one days. Actual moon month-length is slightly shorter.

[Jetfire shifts, and there's a harsh noise of air being sucked through vents.]

It's not s much about safety... Even if it seemed safe enough when I... If it continues to snow, there'll be a lot of it. I... Got trapped under several tons of snow for a very long time.

[He hadn't thought it'd affect him so, since he hadn't noticed - except for briefly - any problems when Starscream unthawed him. But he'd immediately been busy and now... staring at the snow falling outside, he can not move away. Not afraid... exactly... of turning his back to it, but unable not to do it.]

*Hm. 30 days was how long Dos said it took for new things to show up in the stables. Maybe that's a month here, too.*

Well, I doubt that will happen here. At least not as long as you stay in areas other people are in.

Lucky you, it's not going to snow for several hundred thousand years. i think you'll be fine. Just don't go outside.

I don't think that whether or not it would snow for that amount of time matters for the... unsettled feelings the weather creates. But you are correct.

[He's just... not comfortable with this. It had seemed perfectly fine, and to find out it wasn't... Also, staying inside for an unknown amount of time? Considering Starscream was about? Might just not be possible.]

Hopefully not. I simply didn't expect... The reaction to the weather.

[Or the weather itself, truly. And, frustratingly, while the reassurances (in their own way) were helping some, they weren't really doing anything for the underlying uneasiness curling at the back of his processor, and down in his spark chamber.]

It's best to just get used to it. I don't like the snow much, either. It made my job back home a nightmare.

I assume not cold enough to kill all the organic life in this place.

Humans tend to not survive very long in cold temperatures.

[Jetfire had been rubbing the side of his helm, staring - probably not actually registering what he was looking at - out at the falling snow when Starscream's reply actually... went in and the meaning registered.]

... It could, you know. But honestly, Starscream, why are you making that comparsion? I'm not even sure, exactly, how little cold they can take.

Except... humans are made mostly of water, water freezes at not particularly low temperatures... add to that the time it would take to reduce their core temperature with a lack of clothing... Humans are a lot less protected than we are. But even so, a constant low temperature and with no additional fuel for us would---

[Here, Jetfire stops, optics flickering slightly and while he does, partly, turn away from the view outside to frown down at the journal, there's a pinch about his faceplates; apparently not even Starscream being annoying like this going to easily jar him out of this mood.]

I hope you didn't just say that to make me consider all that.

[Ah, well. That "getting used to it" part would obviously be the problem here.]

... Oh? The... cold interfering... Or hard to move around?

[Something else to concentrate on, even if it was stil connected to all this.]

Because, unless this place has been designed as a mass, slow execution device for the organics here, you are going to be fine.

Since, you know it will doubtfully get that cold.

Too much snow made it hard to move and made conditions more dangerous. And then there is always an increase in injury and illness, so that's more work for me right there.

[That... might have helped, except Jetfire lifts his helm to look out at the falling snow, reaching an arm out to catch snowflakes. They're still melting, but the ones falling on the very tips of his fingers aren't.]

Starscream... snow insulates. It's actually slightly warmer... for a given measure of it... if you're packed in snow. It wasn't just the cold.

[He pulls his hand in again, holding it up to his face as he allows more heat through his systems, watching his fingertips start to steam slightly.]

All that snow... Weighing down on me. I tried to get out, you know. Unfortunately I was upright. Melting the snow beneath you isn't a very good idea.
